The Aman Project works on advocating for LGBTQ+ individuals and refugees in the MENA region.
Since 2017 and up until April of 2019, the Aman shelter provided a home, a community, and training to help more than 100 of Istanbul’s most vulnerable refugees, homeless LGBTQ+ individuals, get back on their feet. Today the Aman Project works on advocating for LGBTQ individuals and refugees in the MENA region through providing direct emergency assistance for rent, food and medicine to vulnerable individuals in Turkey, where the project is based. Our project also provides assistance with applying for asylum in third countries. At the same time, we work to address the root of the problem. We collaborate with journalists and utilize social media to raise awareness on LGBTQ+ issues in the region in the hope of normalizing and promoting acceptance of LGBTQ+ refugees in their home countries.
Mission:To promote safe equitable migration and communities of belonging for people fleeing Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression and HIV+ persecution.
